1960's session guitar icon Big Jim Sullivan has passed away; he was 71. Sullivan had long been battling ill health and finally succumbed to his long fight with illness. Big Jim played on over 1,000 chart-topping hits in his career and played on recordings with nearly every single big successful artist in England. Among the acts Sullivan played with include, Donovan, Dusty Springfield The Walker Brothers, Tom Jones, George Harrison, Frank Zappa, and The Who to name but a few.
Sullivan was also close to his friend and studio guitar cohort Little Jim Page and even lent him the Gibson J-200 Acoustic Guitar he used to record the first two Zeppelin albums.
Though he was not a household name, Jim Sullivan was an icon whose contribution to the world of music can not be overstated. He will be greatly missed.
