Page Places: Hollywood Rock Walk

Guitar Center in Hollywood California
I have been to Los Angeles many many times in my life, and have had the good fortune to see many Led Zeppelin related sites in the city, which I will post about later I assure you. My first "Page Place" post was out on the east coast so I decided to bring it back out west for this one.

Everyone is familiar with the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Hollywood Boulevard is covered in stars commemorating a slew of famous entertainment industry people throughout history, however not many people are aware of "The Hollywood Rock Walk". Basically the Rock Walk is the Rock and Roll version of Grauman's Chinese Theater where famous musicians imprint their hands in the sidewalk to be immortalized for eternity.

I heard about this place and HAD to see it for myself, so in 2008 with my buddy Nathan in tow we walked all the way from Grauman's Chinese Theater near Hollywood and Vine to the Rock Walk, which is outside the Hollywood Guitar Center on Sunset Boulevard. We got there and I was just blown away by the sheer number of great musicians who took the time to place their hands in the wet cement, Chuck Berry, Les Paul, Slash, and on and on and on. One of the first things I noticed though was a bust of John Bonham on the wall to the right near the entrance commemorating lost musicians. (Jimi Hendrix & Stevie Ray Vaughan were up there along with numerous others)

I apologize for the shell necklace
After paying my respects to John Bonham, I searched for Jimmy, and found him in two places! The first set of prints was under the heading of the Yardbirds. His hand prints were in one slab alongside Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck; way cool

His second set of prints was just Jimmy on one solo slab by himself. Placing my hands in his imprint was an awesome thrill and I was super stoked we took the time to time to see this place. So if you are ever in L.A. and want to see some Rock and Roll history, be sure to check out the Rock Walk!
