Finding Zoso: Discovering the Music of Jimmy Page: "Living Loving Maid (She's Just a Woman)

Usually played on radios as a direct follow-up to "Heartbreaker", "Living Loving Maid (She's Just a Woman) is the sixth track off Led Zeppelin II and is also included as the B-Side to the "Whole Lotta Love" single. On the the initial pressings of the LP in the U.K. when Led Zeppelin II was released, the song was titled "Living Loving Wreck (She's Just a Woman), but has been changed since. Jimmy Page reportedly played a Vox 12-String guitar for this song.

The song itself is reportedly about a groupie who annoyed the band in their early beginnings. The song itself is noteworthy for being on of Jimmy's least favorite Led Zeppelin works, and was virtually never played live, with the exception of one instance at a show in Dusseldorf on March 12th, 1970 when the band played a short snippet of it following "Heartbreaker". The song is also noteworthy for being one of the few Led Zeppelin tracks to feature Robert Plant performing backing vocals as well as lead. Despite Page's distaste for the song, Plant rather like the number and performed it live on his solo "Manic Nirvana" tour in 1990.
