"Bring It On Home"

Led Zeppelin's closing track is the blues standard "Bring it on Home". The song was another Zeppelin cover written by Willie Dixon. It was recorded originally by Sonny Boy Williamson II in 1963 and released three years later on the album "The Real Folk Blues" by the Chess Record Label. Once again, Zeppelin neglected to give Dixon a writing credit for the song, a decision which Page defended in 1977 in an interview with Stephen Rosen, "The thing with "Bring It On Home," there's only a tiny bit taken from Sonny Boy Williamson's version and we threw that in as a tribute to him. People say, "Oh, 'Bring It On Home' is stolen." Well, there's only a little bit in the song that relates to anything that had gone before it, just the end." Arc Music, on Willie Dixon's behalf sued the band in 1972, and settled for an undisclosed sum.

Sonny Boy Williamson II
Zeppelin's version was recorded at Columbia Studios in New York City in 1969 with Plant's harmonica recorded "in a shack" in Vancouver.  The intro and the outro to the song are a pretty close rendition of the original Sonny Boy Williamson II version, with the middle portion of the song created independently by both Page and Plant. The song was included in band's live show beginning with their tour of the U.K. in 1970, and remained in rotation until 1973, however the middle portion riff of the song was still used as an introduction to "Black Dog". The band also performed the song at wedding of John Bonham's son Jason in 1990.

For this song I used my Gibson Les Paul Traditional Pro plugged into my Marshall Haze 40 amplifier.

Palm mute all the intro...

  2. Its a shame that Zep came to and end, but rock icons live fast and quite soon 'life' catches up with them
