"The Cotton Song"

So this is the next song from the same showcase as before. They did two songs that day and this one seems often forgotten...which is extraordinary as the first song is almost completely forgotten. The song itself appears at the 5:00 mark in the clip above. (Side-note, I think this is the only song on record where Jimmy has a whistle solo).

Another skiffle number, again in the key of E. This song is once again three chords, and structured almost exactly like the previous number, but again, that was the beauty of Skiffle; a very populist form of music. In the beginning just strum each chord once and let it ring out, and once you get past the first verse, just strum in that fast paced pumping rhythm. Thus here is how it goes:

E
Well When Those Cotton Balls Get Rotten
          A
You can't pick very much cotton
     E B7
In them old cotton fields back home
       E
It was down in Louisiana
             A
Just about a mile from Texarkana
        E B7 E
In them old cotton fields back home
